We are VERY pleased to announce that the late evening ELECTRIC BLUES performance will feature THE COLIN STAPLES BLUES BAND. Colin and his lead guitarist, "Doc" Shellard, are no strangers to THE STAGE, having performed as a traditional duo here on several occasions. Now returning with the full electric band (bass- Bob Allen, drums- Andy James) expect a set fully laden with the best that Chicago, Memphis and Basford has to offer! Known for hosting the long-running Colin Staples Blues Jam (The Navigation Inn, Wilford Street, Nottingham, 9pm every Wednesday), Colin has a deep history in the Nottingham blues scene, for example providing a band for Champion Jack Dupree when he came over from the States in 1971, to tour the UK and Germany.
Resident guitarist and musical director at The Stage, RHYDIAN WYN, will be performing innovative versions of folk blues, spirituals and field chants, arranged by him for guitar and percussion. With the aid of modern technology, and some unusual instruments (e.g. his signature Mavis Mule resophonic) Rhydian and his longstanding collaborator ALEX BROMPTON, aim to surprise and excite with original versions of blues standards. Rhydian and Alex first performed on stage together at the Gentse Feesten (Ghent Festival), Belgium in July 2008; their shows benefit from a close musical understanding- forged through playing regularly together. Prepare to be surprised and entertained!

Heard of “Ronnie Scott’s” in London, or “Peggy’s Skylight” in Nottingham?
This is Southwell’s very own Blues Club, modelled on those famous venues. Expect an evening of quality music and fine food.
The Music
Quality jazz ‘n’ blues from our resident guitarist, Rhydian Wyn, with his house band “The Blue Fire” (featuring Alex Brompton on drums and percussion). They will be joined by various acts and guest vocals from around the Nottinghamshire blues scene. Each evening will have its own unique line up and feel, from traditional blues through to jazz, swing and blues rock.
Rhydian has assembled a quality group of musicians to form our resident band, and we are sure you won’t be disappointed.
The Food
You will have your own personal table for the evening. You will be shown from the door to your table, where you can relax as waiting staff bring your drinks and platters of quality food, prepared in the kitchens of “The Old Theatre Deli”. We are serving sharing platters for your table, such as English Charcuterie and meats, Artisan cheeses, Chutney, sourdoughs, Mini bruschetta, and pastries; they will include vegetarian and vegan options as required.
The Drink
There is a full bar with table service. Simply raise your hand and the waiting staff will attend to you at your table.
Reserving your place
To reserve your table, simply apply using the form above.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Blues Club Tables seat four persons. To have a table to yourself requires the purchase of four tickets. Any ticket sales of three or less will necessitate the sharing of the table.
Tables will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

The side room, with a partial view of the stage, holds 20.
The back room, with no direct view but more private tables, holds 10.
